In many parts of Lombok, including Tempasan village, it has long been common for families to migrate overseas— mainly to Malaysia or the Middle East—in search of work. Many leave through recruitment agencies, taking on high-interest debts and spending their first year of work repaying those loans. Others risk illegal routes by boat, often facing dangerous conditions or detention. The jobs are hard, the separation from family is long, and the cycle of poverty often continues.

Aranka Tempasan Homestay was created as a response to this challenge — a local solution for a global problem. Founded by local youth and rooted in the heart of Tempasan village, Aranka is not just a place to stay; it’s a platform for transformation.

Through community-based tourism, Aranka creates real alternatives for young people to stay, grow, and thrive in their own village. We provide hands-on opportunities in hospitality, guiding, cooking, crafts, and cultural sharing — allowing local youth and families to earn income while staying connected to their land and traditions.
